The genie of stashbusting
It’s like when You paint a room in your House. You do a test first to figure out if it works. With a yarncard I can try out different combinations, compare them, and then I make my decision. It is essential to ‘work’ your stash to actually reduce it. (and not just buy more yarn!)
Simple solid tools are essential for efficent stashbusting! One of my best tools for nailing the right color expression is my color-cards. I use them to test color combinations before I actually do the entire crochet project. They really help med dig into my yarn stash! ...and they save me a lot of frogging!
What is a yarn card (stripe winder)?
They are just square pieces of white cardboard. You wrap yarn around it. Keep the front nice and tidy - the back is full of knots and tape to keep the yarn in order.
What if I just need that one more color?
If a proper exploration of your stash leads to realizing that You NEED that one color, dont worry! You already went through your stash, and you worked out exactly what color you need. You are buying a lot less yarn this way!
Go for the good quality :-)
